Berlin, June 19th, 2019 - Yesterday evening, the company builder WATTx, supported by Viessmann, was honoured with a double success by the business magazine Capital and the consulting firm Infront Consulting in Berlin - for the third time in a row. In the "Innovation Development" category, WATTx prevailed against 50 other participants in the study and won. Third place went to the team led by managing directors Dr. Martin Mittermeier and Martin Unger on the subject of "Innovation Scaling".
"We are very pleased with our hat trick, especially because it shows the continuity and the constantly growing success of our work," said Unger after the announcement of the award: "This obviously also convinced the top-class jury.
Last year, the number of so-called Digital Innovation Hubs of established companies in Germany rose by around a third to around 230 - 60 of them are located in Berlin, including WATTx. This development aroused the curiosity of both Capital's editorial team and Infront Consulting's consultants. In concrete terms, a foreword - jointly signed by editor-in-chief Horst von Buttlar and Infront Consulting partner Thomas Sindemann - says: "In 2019, we looked at where and how the best ideas were discovered, how they were developed into prototypes and minimum viable products (MVPs), and how they were then - hopefully - upgraded to economic success.
That's how the three themes came about:
"As in the previous two years, this recognition fills us with pride because we are working with all our might on innovative solutions, whether for our own ventures or for our partners in the midmarket. For us, it is all the more important that these solutions make a lasting difference to the lives and work of users and, above all, simplify them. Being among the winners again this year helps us all the more to push ahead with the establishment of a start-up hub for small and medium-sized businesses in Germany," Mittermeier added.
Von Buttlar and Sindemann explained the reorientation of the study as follows: "It is now known that digital innovation units have a very positive effect on the digital transformation of the parent companies. In contrast to the previous two studies, the focus was on the innovation results. In particular, successes and success patterns were assessed positively.
WATTx, the company builder initiated by Viessmann with a Deep Tech focus, had already been awarded the winner in the category "Germany's Best Company Builder" a year ago, equal to the innovation unit of Daimler Lab1886.
In 2017, the company was awarded second place in the "Incubators & Accelerators" category.
